Terbutaline sulfate 5mg/10ml
Solution for injection, Solution for nebuliser
Relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma and other bronchopulmonary disorders in which bronchospasm is a complicating factor.
To arrest labour between 22 and 37 weeks of gestation in patients with no medical or obstetric contraindication to tocolytic therapy.
The dosage of Arimenus 5mg is adjusted for each patient.
* For injection
a. Bronchospasm
Adults
Subcutaneous injection: 0.25 ml equivalent to 0.25 mg terbutalin sulfate/time, up to 4 times a day. In more severe conditions, terbutalin sulfate can be used 0.5 mL of 0.5 mg / time.
Children
Subcutaneous injection: 5 mcg/kg/time 4 times/day (20 mcg/kg/day). In more severe conditions, 10 mcg / kg / time may be used.
Intravenous infusion: Treatment begins with drip intravenous administration at a dose of 2.5 mcg / minute. In severe conditions, terbutalin sulfate may be increased to 5 mcg / minute. Depending on the severity of the disease, it can be transmitted continuously or interval, combined with normal transmission.
b. Threatened preterm labour
Short-term treatment is indicated in cases of threatened preterm labour at 22 to 37 weeks of pregnancy.
The dose depends on the individual and is limited by increased heart rate and blood pressure changes. These two parameters must be closely monitored during treatment.
In the first hour infusion 10 mcg / minute (40 drops / minute according to the dilution instructions). If contractions do not stop, the dose may be increased step by step 5 mcg / minute (20 drops / minute according to the dilution instructions) every 10 minutes but maximum of 25 mcg / min (100 drops / minute according to instructions dilution). It can then be reduced by 5 mcg / minute every half hour until a maintenance dose is reached, the lowest dose that can be used without contractions occurring.
Intravenous treatment usually lasts for at least 8 hours, then maintenance therapy begins with 5 mg tablet, administered 3 times a day. Continue treatment by mouth until the end of the week 36.
How to use
5 mg (1 vial of Arimenus 5mg) can be mixed into 1000 mL of 5% glucose solution. Therefore 40 drops of infusion contain 10 mcg of terbutalin sulfate. Avoid using physiological saline solution to prepare infusion for pregnant women because it may increase the risk of pulmonary edema in preterm birth.
Arimenus 5mg can be mixed with the following infusions: 5% glucose and Ringer's solution. The usual concentration is 5 mg in 1000 mL of solution. Thus 10 drops of infusion per minute corresponds to 2.5 mcg / minute and 20 drops of infusion per minute corresponding to 5 mcg / minute.
The solution prepared for infusion must be used within 12 hours. Do not mix drugs into alkaline solutions.
Arimenus 5mg can be mixed into glass infusion bottles and PVC infusion bags.
* For nebuliser
In most patients, the use of terbutalin sulfate, based on the dosage below, for 2-4 times daily will suffice to reduce bronchospasm. In acute severe asthma, additional doses are needed.
How to use: Dilute the drug with sterile physiological saline (NaCl 0.9%) if necessary, use through an inhaler.
- Adults: 5-10 mg terbutalin sulfate (1-2 tubes) / time.
- Children: 0.1-0.2 mg / kg / time
